A vintage Foochow green lacquer vase hand decorated with typical Chinese landscape - mountains, pagoda/ temple, trees and 3 figures sitting, talking underneath a tree with red blossom. Red printed base stamp with Chinese characters and the world globe with the map of the Republic of China in the centre. As a symbol of wealth, regeneration, fertility, health and harmony, green is a lucky colour in Chinese culture. There is a small brass stud on the underside of each of the four feet. Including the base it measures approximately 23cm tall; it weighs 146g. Pre-1940. Condition, good; there is one chip in the rim with hairline.
