This is such a special little Kobe charm of a Japanese man with pop-out eyes and wearing a top hat and hakama (kimono trousers).

These wonderful and eccentric little charms were created in the port city of Kobe, Japan in the 1920s and 1930s as cracker gifts and giveaways, a far cry from the Happy Meal toys of today! Almost always in orange and black, the ones with the pop-out eyes, as this one, are the most desirable.

It's in very good condition, with the eyes working perfectly. There is a brass hanging bale so it could be used as a very cool pendant or a bag charm, but I think it would be fabulous hanging from a key to a Oriental cupboard! Do have a close look at all the photos and ask away if you require any further info or images.

Stands approx 2.5 cms tall and weighs 3 grams. Due to its diminutive size, it can go as a Large Letter in a sturdy but narrow cardboard PiP box. Will be shipped by Royal Mail Signed For Second Class or International Standard untracked worldwide which can be upgraded to Tracked if required.
