Arthur Edward Davies was born in 1893. Originally from Pontrhydgroes, Ystrad Meurig in Wales, he studied moved to Norfolk in 1923after being captivated by the Norfolk landscape. He produced countless sketches and paintings of the area over the following sixty-five years. Many from around the east Anglian area but he also visited many towns and cities as well as France and Wales.


For thirty years he exhibited annually at The Royal Academy and was elected both an RBA by The Royal Society of British Artists in 1939 and an RCA by the Royal Cambrian Society in 1942 and was also an RSA by the Royal Scottish Academy. He was a member of The Norwich School and was friends with many of the well established artist of the area. He lived to the age of 95, making him the oldest British artist at that time.


This small, impressionist graphite and watercolour landscape of Brecon Beacons shows distant hills with trees, bushes and sandy soil to the foreground. Signed in the bottom left corner with more details on reverse. Framed in Natural slim wood and double mounted in cream and white. In very good condition with no damage, please see photos
