I’ve had this lovely turntable a good few years and kept it because of its wonderful fully automatic mechanism along with its brilliant selectable repeat functions.
I was going to give it to my daughter as she got older but she is now fully conversant in turntable use so the auto functions are not so important for her so it has sat
unused for quite some time now and really needs to be put to use by someone.

Because of the functionality and being from the vinyl records golden age this turntable would suit a beginner or a pro and is a much more well made and stylish alternative to many a modern turntable

The Technics SL-231 is a belt-driven fully automatic record player. This solid and heavily built turntable and was produced in 1978, seldom seen in the UK with the silver SL-230 version being much more common.

With a push of a button, the player starts and the arm automatically goes to the beginning of the record. The arm automatically returns at the end of the record and the platter stops.

It also has a superb selectable repeat function where you can select whether you play the record anywhere between 1 to 6 times or continually repeating or not repeat at all and so playing it only once as per normal. So it will play the record the selected number of times and then return the arm to the rest and shut itself off. With this versatile functionality it is very easy to use or you can also choose to manually operate everything.

The turntable is in very nice condition, I have cleaned and checked everything, lubricated where needed, fitted a brand new belt and Audio Technica AT-3600 Cartridge and stylus on it so it is ready to go and if looked after should give good service for years to come.

It is getting on for 50 years old so of course does show some of those years, there is some Minor scuffing to the plinth as shown in the photos but generally it is in good clean condition. The only thing of note is that the lid does have a few blemishes on top, but no deep scratches, and one of the hinge inserts is slightly broken, but the lid does stay on the hinge and goes up and down ok.

Please study the numerous photos provided to appreciate the condition of this nearly 50 year old Technics turntable as they serve as additional description of its condition. Please review them carefully before purchase.

I do not have the original instruction manual but I have downloaded and printed out a copy which will be included.

I really have no idea what its true value is and I’ve had the use of it for many a year so I thought let the universe decide and so the auction has a 99p start with no reserve. Because of this I do not have a buy it now price and will not end the auction early, it will run to the end regardless of the price it reaches.

Rest assured, this turntable will be securely packed for delivery including insurance or can be collected from either Canterbury or Herne bay if you would prefer.

If looking at this from somewhere outside of Europe that and/or does not employ 220-240Vac mains electricity please be aware it may require some form of transformer to operate in your country.
