One of our favorite trips on our travels in Oaxaca is to the village of San Pedro Cajonos! Situated high in the mountains three hours from Oaxaca City, this is one of the most idyllic settings that one may ever find! Perched at the top of the mountains, with sweeping views of the surrounding canyons and distant pueblos, San Pedro Cajonos kisses the clouds and shines in its art forms. One of the most famous of San Pedro Cajonos artists, is the Blas Family of wood carvers. Their style is so unique and can be identified readily upon sight. Bright colors, and fine painting are their hallmarks. I absolutely love the Blas Family wood carvings!
The whimsy and color in these sea turtle wood carvings by Fidel Blas are so full of joy! This is the first time that we have carried this particular style from Fidel, and we love it even more so than the original now! Nicely painted and a great size, it will make an affordable addition to your collection. A standout piece at this price! There are no removable parts, and the artwork is signed by the artist.
