Brief biography of the author (from "Book author introduction information")
Isao Takahata
Born in 1935 in Mie prefecture. Animated film director. After graduating from the Department of French Literature at the University of Tokyo in 1959, he joined Toei Animation. Made his first directorial debut with the theatrical movie "The Great Adventure of Horus, Prince of the Sun" ('68). Since then, he has released “Alpine Girl Heidi” (1974), “Seeking Mother, 3000 Miles” (1976), and “Anne of Green Gables” (1979). Directed translation for "Kirik and the Witch" (directed by Michel Oslo/released in Japan in 2003) provided by Studio Ghibli, and translated subtitles for "The King and the Bird" (directed by Paul Grimaud/released in Japan in 2006)
Saita/Shunji Born in 1949 in Kumamoto Prefecture. After working part-time in photography and coloring, he joined O Production in 1970 and studied under Kazuo Komatsubara and Koichi Murata. Since the original drawings for "Tiger Mask" ('69-'71), he has worked on everything from graphic touches to soft-touch works such as the world masterpiece series. First character design and animation director with "Little Princess Sarah" ('85). In this "Gauche the Cellist", I drew all the original drawings by myself (this data was published at the time this book was published)
