Elliott of London Westminster/Whittington Chiming 8-Day Mantel Clock

This is model #1153 (as shown in the catalog pic and stamped on the bottom). The stamp on the bottom of this clock indicates it was manufactured in 1961. The movement is lacquered which was done on earlier versions (1960s).

The case is walnut and is in very good condition and has cosmetic wear that comes from regular use as shown on images (please check pics for condition). The metal fretwork on the backdoor has been slightly pushed in as seen in the pics. The case measures 13.75” H x 8.75” W x 6” D.

The movement is running and chiming. It seems to be keeping good time, but will probably need some adjusting after shipment. This movement uses a platform escapement and does not require a perfectly level surface (within reason). Chimes sound good – after a few days, a little slow on the Whittington setting.

Clock has automatic night time silence - 11:00 pm to 7:00 am.

The clock face and dial are in good shape, but the ‘Elliott London’ wording is missing above the hands. On the dial below number 6 (VI), the word ‘Made in England’ is visible.

Comes with key (not original)

Overall a nice clock from a highly regarded clock maker.
