Charles Frederick Rump 1853-1924 was born in Gt Yarmouth but later lived with his first wife in North Walsham where he painted in both oils and watercolour. After the death of his first wife, he remarried in 1909 and moved to Cromer were he became quite prolific with his landscapes and scenes of Norfolk and the Broads. His daughter also later became an artist in Suffolk


This bright, detailed oil on board shows an woman in long dark dress standing outside an isolated country shack on an autumnal day. With lots of red, orange and yellow tints to the surrounding tall trees and a wide dusty road winding into the distance. Signed in the bottom left corner and framed in ornate, darker gold wood. The picture is good condition for the age, the cardboard has warped a little to the right side and the frame has some damage to the inner scrolling, please see photos.
