I have been fortunate enough to acquire a number of unused and boxed electronics by the British company Benson, particularly portable radios, cassette players and TV’s. They come from the estate of the founder of the company who kept one example of each model, including pre-production samples, that they released to the market during the 60’s, 70’s and early 80’s. They also made many radios sold under different brand names. The samples  have been kept carefully in his private stores and finally need new homes. The pre-production examples may have some missing accessories in the packages or some minor packaging differences but are otherwise exactly as sold to the public. 


Benson was a ‘cheap and cheerful’ British high-street brand who manufactured in the far East,  but as such survival rates of their products are very low and as with all vintage consumer tech of the era, unused examples are very uncommon and a pleasure to find. I hope they will please collectors and fans of retro radios. This model is pretty typical of the huge variety of small transistors that came to market at the time but special in its condition, which is immaculate. 


This radio is unopened and unused and so has no wear or damage at all. I have decided to let the new owner be the first to power it after all these years. I suppose there may be some small chance of a mechanical fault with the electronics due to ageing but having been stored well, it should still function as intended. If the new owner finds faults, I will certainly accept a return. 


The packaging is very nice, remaining clean, fresh-looking and strong.


I will be listing many more unused Benkson products soon, including many transistor radios of various sizes, some from the late ‘60’s through to the ‘80’s. Always willing to make deals for collectors on multiple purchases to find them good homes.
