Charming Antique Victorian Children's Words & Pictures Lotto Game - French English

This is a lovely antique children's Lotto game, comprising 12 picture boards depicting people, animals and objects, along with corresponding word tiles in English and French. It's obviously designed to help children learn French, but also can be played using only the English words. I believe it dates from the 1880s or 90s.

The game has lost its original box, and is now in a vintage Cadburys Chocolates box which features The Prince of Wales, who was later to briefly become Edward VIII, which would date it to the 1920s or early 1930s, making it an interesting object in its own right.

Condition: It has obviously been played a lot over the last 130 years or so, and the boards and tiles show some grubbiness and wear. However, in my opinion, this adds to the charm when you think of all the children who have played with it over the years! I have counted the word tiles and there is the correct number, although one is a replacement. Please study the photos carefully as they form part of this description.

Delivery: The game will be carefully packaged using, where possible, recycled/reused materials, and despatched via Royal Mail.
