I'm fairly certain these are remans and they just discarded the ear pads and mics due to safety concerns and they probably didnt have replacements. These were probably packaged like this at end of run.  I have sold many of these and I used to randomly open and test one and they always sound fine.   The sound quality is great and they are loud. 

I hooked them up to my computer. I bypassed the decoder. I forgot how I did it exactly. I might have used a line jumper. These have the usb plug that goes into the decoder. All plugs are included. Fiber optic, power adapter, usb external, xbox adapter.
