Gen. Robert E. Lee

Confederate General, Confederate States of America, Civil War

*Flawed and priced accordingly, see below*

Heavy Small / Miniature Bust with slight green patina and slightly shiny finish in bronze tone. Felted base.

Unsure of the age of this piece as it was acquired from an estate collection in Richmond, Virginia. My assumption is this is a souvenir piece possibly from a museum store sometime in the 20th century. The Museum of the Confederacy is here in Richmond so it could have been from there.

Heavy for its size! Weight is 5 1/8 oz.

*Condition Notes!
There are 2 significant flaws:   1. There are a couple of places where the surface finish and glaze seems to have chipped off. Primarily on the tip of Lee's nose; also on the left side of the bust, his lapel edge, the base edge next to the "R", and the back shoulder. This is actually not immediately noticeable, however if you look closely at the 3rd photo (please zoom in!) you can see small silvery areas, about 1/16".     2. When the piece was made, it looks like a drop of the finish/glaze wasn't smoothed - there is a seam down the left side of the bust between Lee's ear and temple. It's visible in the 2nd photo, look for a vertical seam from the top of his head to his jaw. This is part of the manufacturing - however it is a flaw.
