A pair of turned wooden finials. Possibly for curtain poles or newel posts. They have what looks like a wood grain finish but a very old looking finish. Unusually and original the top finial has a slight very dark cherry colour as has part of the turning lower down. I have photographed these finials in the sun so as to show the colours but they are somewhat darker out of the sun. They have a lovely old feel about them.
Condition. No chips, cracks or repairs. They have surface marks, some minor grazes/scuffs but these do no detract from the look at all. As you can see from the photo one has its wooden peg and the other does not. I have given these finials a wax polish so they are ready to use.
Approx Size. Max height (excluding the wooden peg) is approx 13cm. Diameter of the base is approx 5cm. Diameter across the middle is 7.5cm. I assume these finials are hand turned as when you hold them up side by side they are just very slightly different sizes.
