THIS IS ONE OF THE MOST CLASSIC MEDALS OF ARGENTINA, COMMEMORATING THE 100 YEARS OF THE BATTLE OF MAIPU 1818 - 1918 (CURRENTLY A TERRITORY BELONGING TO CHILE) AND DEDICATED BOTH TO GENERAL DON JOSÉ DE SAN MARTÍN AND TO HIS ENTIRE LIBERATORY ARMY. ON THE FRONT IT HAS AN ALLEGORY AND GENERAL SAN MARTÍN ON A HORSE AND ON THE REVERSE A VIEW OF THE BATTLE.IN THE SING THE WORD "COPPER", EVEN THOUGH THE MEDAL WAS SILVER AT THE TIME (1918). THE REVERSE IS BASED ON AN OIL BY FERNANDEZ VILLANUEVA AND THE MEDAL IS MADE BY GOTUZZO and PIANA.
