Wood and Silver Plate Antique Beer Stein/Mug by St.Louis Silver Co. c.1900

Description: Presented is a very interesting and unusual type of beer drinking vessels.

The stein (or, rather, mug) is made of wood - specifically Flemish oak - and mounted with silverplated inlay that is very nicely cut in floral motives. The inside of the stein is also made of silverplate metal so the mug is not leaking through the wood.

It was made in the US in early 1900s by St.Louis Silver Company. The company produced several types of wood and silver steins from 1904 till 1912 when the company closed.

This is a unique and unusual mug - a beautiful historical drinking vessel. Please note: the mugs are more scarce than the lidded steins and pitchers.

The condition is very good  - there is no damage, no breaks, tears or losses and the silver is pretty much in place, only the silverplate is tarnished and requires some cleaning. I usually leave it to the buyer - some people prefer brightly polished silver, some keep it tarnished for the antique look.

It is  4" tall, 0,3L capacity.
