Severus Alexander NGC "AU" (Actually MS) 222-235 AD Roman Empire AR Denarius

Superb specimen. Deeply lustrous. Highly refined and detailed style. High relief. Very well centered on both sides. Undergraded coin, clearly uncirculated. A professional NGC grader looked at this coin, and off the books gave it a MS grade, strike: 5/5, and surface: 3/5. OLD NGC holder, seems to be their first generation holder they issued for ancients, from the time when NGC was far too strict (or incompetent) in grading ancient coins. Extremely rare variety, depicting a rarely seen Roman divinity, Pax Aeterna, eternal peace. Every example of this coin I could find over the years (both those from auctions as well as museum pieces) are very worn. More attractive in hand.
