Includes 8x 3-TB HDDs. 5 of the 8 drives are WD RED NAS drives. 3 of the 8 are WD Green Drives. All drives have been wiped and identified ag "good" by CrystalDiskInfo. Drives are shipped individually boxed to protect both the drives and the backplane.

The enclosure supports up to 16TB per volume. I've used up to two volumes per enclosure to take advantage of all the drives. Unlike most RAID setups, DROBO supports mixed size drives on the same volume while still providing data redundancy. So as the drives fill, you can replace them one at a time with higher capacity drives and DROBO will expand to take advantage of the extra space. 

Supports FireWire, USB, and iSCSI over Gigabit Ethernet.
