Choice Unc (15: 5,5,5). This is an excellent example of the original mintage of this historic and popular coin. It is the Snow-3 die pair which means this was part of the mintage distributed to Congress in late 1856 to enact the passage of the Mint Act of 1857. It is a Mint State striking with the look and feel  that is unquestioned as a MS coin. There is strike doubling on the date which is only possible on coins struck as business strikes. Proofs of this era were struck on a screw press and do not exhibit this feature. The holder is the 2013 coin number which is for MS coins and these are the only coins which are allowed in the registry for the MS 1856 space.

The coin is full struck and has hardly a mark. A similar coin graded MS64+ is presently on the market for $90,000, so this is a great deal by contrast. This is in an old "series" style holder from 2002 to 2004. This was graded prior to the "+" designation was issued. This is a very attractive example and it is hard to find any fault with it.
