C. F. Monroe Wave Crest Ormolu Mounts Opal Glass and Gilted Hand Painted
Beautiful, Rare Antique C.F. Monroe Company Wave Crest Opal Glass Vase with Ormolu Mounts. The stamp is wearing off but you can still see some of it. Very Good Condition. The vase rocks a little bit front to back. There are some marks where the mounts have rubbed the glass. There is a light wear and smudges that I think can be cleaned off.

See photos. I can detect no chips or cracks. The gilt is worn in places and the rim is worn. There is some patina due to age. This piece is antique and not perfect but in great condition for it's age.

This breathtakingly lovely satin finish glass is decorated and hand painted by the C. F. Monroe Co., c. late 1800s to 1900s. Pink roses, fully bloomed, adorn the front and back of the piece and the design is embellished with a pattern of gold dots or 'jewels." The vase is further decorated with elaborate gilt ormolu handles, a ring base, flourish feet and an embossed rim. This piece exemplifies the spirit of 'Joie de vivre' of the Belle Époque period.

A little about the piece. Wave Crest glass is an opaque white glassware manufactured by the Pairpoint Manufacturing Company of New Bedford, Massachusetts, and some French factories. It was decorated by the C.F. Monroe Company of Meriden, Connecticut. The glass was painted in pastel colors and decorated with flowers. Thick enamel flourishes were added to Wave Crest glass as added decoration. The name Wave Crest was used after 1898.
