Being offered is this stunning, antique, exceedingly RARE set of Bradley & Hubbard signed B&H, HEAVY & SOLID 3D embossed polychrome, color bookends.   They portray a full naval sea battle, flags flying, cannons booming and smoke all around.  The seas are full of waves crashing.  I believe it to be one of the battles of the USS Constitution.  I believe it to be the battle with the HMS Guerriere where the Constitution got its nickname, “Old Ironsides”.  There was a big push in 1924 to raise money to restore the Constitution in 1924 so these bookends were probably made during that time period, but just my guess.

I have searched the internet and eBay and cannot find another set of these bookends anywhere. I am not saying they are not out there, but I cannot seem to find them. I believe this to be a very scarce set of Bradley and Hubbard bookends and that makes them very collectible. I found them at an estate sale.

They each measure 5 ¼” across the widest point and each are 4” tall.  They are also 2 ½” from the front to the back.  They have a green back and once again, they are multi color.  They also have a gold edge with the front edge being a ships rope also gold.

I see no damage, chips, or repairs on anywhere on the bookends. I believe them to be solid cast iron, and they are very heavy.  They each weigh 2lbs 15ozs.

Please see the pictures for more details.

Thanks for looking and good luck on the auction
