This is a complete jacket uniform collection belonging to RALPH RILEY (photographed) a Lieutenant in the Devonshire Regiment, serving in Malaya, consisting of a serge blouse dated 1943 , a great coat, dress uniform jacket with Sam Browne and cap

This is a genuine lot and I have been in contact with the son who has informed me that his father guarded the Japanese pows

Who has told me -“haven’t properly read his diary of that time but essentially after he left school he worked on a small holding near Exeter. After a while he wondered why he hadn’t been called up and it seems that his employer had put him on the reserved occupation list or something like that. Therefore he left and joined the Devonshire regiment. Was posted out to the far east to fight the Japs however they got to Singapore just when the bomb was dropped and he spent several years in malaya looking after the Japanese POWs and running a small farm that supplied the camp. His only claim to fame was shooting a python that was taking the ducks. He cured the skin but it had two holes in it from the bullet. The second python he dispatched with a kukri knife.

Full name was Ralph Dawson Riley.

From my inspection the great coat has two small holes bottom left (shown)

Dress uniform damaged repaired bottom right

Serge has a very small moth nibble to the right arm otherwise perfect

Cap has some moth nibble.

This is a rare opportunity to acquire all the items in one lot. I would prefer to sell as a group and very hesitant to split. Please study the pictures carefully any questions please ask. Sizes are
