Conversion description: We converted our lovely van in 2023. We have professional experience in design and joinery, and worked with a professional builder and carpenter on aspects of the build. We prioritised comfort, practicality, storage, and a homely vibe, and used very high quality materials in the build. Our van would suit up to two adventure-loving people who enjoy being in the great outdoors. We have adored our time with our van and have gone on some amazing adventures in the UK and Europe. It’s heartbreaking to be selling her after all of our hard work in the conversion and the wonderful memories we’ve created, but we are looking to leave the UK and so it doesn’t make sense to keep her for much longer. We hope we can find a new owner who will love her as much as we do.

Insulation, soundproofing and structure: High quality insulation and soundproofing is laid beneath the walls, floor, and bulkhead for great temperature retention. The carcass was made using high quality wooden planks which we painted. The floorboards are lightweight engineered wood, which is the perfect combination of durable, aesthetic and easy to clean. The ceiling is made from lightweight white wooden planks. We love our skylight which opens up for fresh air (we also have 2 ventilation fans), and has a flyscreen and blind. The inside of the side and back doors has not yet been covered, however we had intended to finish these surfaces with a special carpet and adhesive which we would be happy to include for you at no additional cost. Even without having carpeted the doors, the van retains heat very well and we have always been warm enough (and we can also include our portable 12v heater if you’d like to be extra cosy).

Kitchen: There is plenty of kitchen bench space and storage (drawers, cupboards and an overhead cabin space). The bench is made out of only one piece of corian (sink included) very high quality material, and there are some limited tiles which create a beautiful homely feel and are super easy to clean, and without being too heavy.

For cooking, we use a portable gas hob, which is a perfect and flexible option for cooking both indoors and outdoors. It also creates more space on the kitchen bench as it cools down immediately so you can just put it away as soon as you’ve finished. The kitchen is also fitted with a stylish and compact 12v fridge which will keep your perishables very cold!

There is a 15L water tank located under the sink, connected the tap via a 12v water pump. We intentionally put the sink close to the door and included an extendable tap so it can also be used to hose down dirty shoes, feet and anything else, outside the van.

Dining: There is a sturdy indoor dining table which is securely and compactly stored on the side of the bed, with a built-in bench seat (with underneath storage) on one side, and we use a portable stool on the other side. If you wish to dine outside, we will also include out outdoor dining table and chairs which fold away and are comfortably stored at the back, underneath the bed.

Electrics: The van is fitted with an AGM leisure battery (12v, 120AH) which charges while you drive or by electric hook-up. There is an option for you to add on solar panels (we left sufficient space for this on the roof when designing our van). Other features:
• 12V – 24V inverter
• LED round lights in the ceiling
• 2 x fans for ventilation
• 240v sockets
• 2 x USB charging points above bed
• LED dimmable round lights above bed
• 12v fairy lights
• LED lighting at the back for accessing underbed storage
• 12v fridge
• Portable 12v heater

Storage:
• Significant underbed storage accessible from back of van (2 x bicycles can fit on a sliding platform for ease of access, and the other side is a blank canvas for storing outdoor furniture, spare equipment and any other gear)
• Storage above bulkhead (we had intended to cover this area with carpet and attach a curtain but have not gotten around to it yet)
• Storage beneath bench seat which contains the leisure battery but there is room for much more
• 3 x kitchen drawers
• Cupboard under sink
• Shelving unit in main area
• 2 x shelves at foot of bed

Safety: Fire Extinguisher, Carbon Monoxide Alarm

Bed:
The van has a fixed double bed (175cm long x 120cm wide) with a really comfortable mattress. A fixed bed avoids the hassle of needing to make up a bed every night, maximises the space inside the van, leaves lot of room for storage underneath the bed, and allows for a good quality mattress. This was a really important feature for us.
