Asprey Silver Handle Teatime Knives

Crafted and assayed by Harrison Bros & Howson in the final full year of the reign of Queen Victoria, these butter knives bear the maker's mark of George Howson, whose father's silversmith business had been purchased after his death by the Harrisons. Within the new setup, George gained a fine reputation as an outstanding craftsman in the precious metal.

These four, 16.5cm long, butter knives started life as part of a boxed set of six, skilfully assembled by experts, made for the world's leading purveyor of luxury goods, Asprey of Old Bond Street, London. This reputation they proudly continue to hold to the present day.

Howson's shapely pistol grip handles have a sinuous design cue all of his own, plus the stainless steel blades, each marked for the retailer, even have an unusual flat plateau area, starting above the 'A' of Asprey. It's those little design quirks which mark out true expertise in metalworking.

After one and a quarter centuries, these knives look ready for another hundred years of elegant use, which they probably will see. I have even managed to find an elderly Asprey box in which to place them. Clearly, however, it is not that in which they would have been packaged originally.

Sensible start and no reserve for this set of top quality cutlery. It is listed by an established seller with a hard-won positive reputation for honest dealing, speedy shipping, informative comms and outstanding customer service.

Each of my offers is generously underwritten with my full, no-quibble refund promise, should the item fail to delight, either buyer or giftee, for any reason whatsoever.
