Punk credibility doesn't come much more original than in the case of Johnny Moped, the Croydon band that has featured both The Damned's Captain Sensible and Chrissie Hynde of The Pretenders in their line ups in earlier days. They're back with a new album, titled Quonk, and this taster gives you a good idea of to expect from it - sardonic non-singing in a South London accent, wonderfully anti-muso style musical execution and a nod to 50s songwriting, with just a dash of The Undertones' 'Teenage Kicks' thrown in in this case. An exercise in the results you can get when you don't try too hard, it's got plenty of attitude and even more charm.
