A most beautiful and rare mid 19th century C:- 1840-50 Bristol cobalt blue glass rolling pin with a gelatinous transfer of an anti- Slavery poem with hand painted green & red details to the centre on the right a three masted schooner slave ship and of Sunderland Bridge depicting sailing ships to the left . Port city of Bristol port of departure for Whalers and Slave ships these best known and most desirable glass rolling pins were a parting gift to wives and sweethearts from sailers about to go to sea . The anti-Slavery verse on this example is uncommon and rare this being a museum quality piece in fantastic original condition with excellent unworn details.
