A rare female convict transportation register document from Van Dieman's Land dated 1847.

Female convicts were outnumbered 6:1 by male convicts so their documentation rarely turns up.

This original document was bought in an auction in country NSW about 40 years ago. Apparently the auction contained a small collection of convict material.

The writing is hard to decipher but I've managed to transcribe about 70 percent of the document. Alice Armstrong had stolen a watch and had recurring problems with drunkenness and vagrancy. Interestingly she was subjected to "separate treatment" (isolation), which the document mentions.
