The scarab is believed to be Steatite and was probably a part of a much earlier (possibly ancient) piece of jewelry due to the holes on each end.  It has etched markings or hieroglyphics.

The beetle is mounted on a 14k yellow gold frame (acid tested).  It measures 19mm (excluding the jump ring) x 14mm and weighs 2.1 grams. 

Good condition.  No visible chipping.  May have some soil or stains.  It has not been cleaned.
