What makes a Bernardaud VotiveLight so enchanting? Its surprising translucency, which is characteristic of Lamoges porcelain. Bernardaud artisans use the same technique of hand-sculping fine, bisque porcelain (non-glazed) that was first demonstrated by French artist Paul de Bourgoing in 1828. The glow of a candle shines through the raised and carved surface of the votive to contrast light and shadow, revealing its richly detailed design.
