You are bidding for a metal safety match case with an enamelled relief badge to the top. The badge relief design shows symbols representing London industry and a 'Britannia' type figure, it is surrounded by a blue enamel band with the words "London Chamber of Commerce Incorporated 1881". The base is marked 'British Made', 'Pat275405 Regd 728449', this gives a date of 1927/1928, and "Centre Bar" which I presume is the design name. The design incorporates a 'sleeve' into which can be slid the pads from the sides of a safety match box, the advent of 'Safety Matches' having rendered the friction strikers of old vesta cases unusable. The exterior looks like it is silver plated.

The case is in very good overall as is the enamelled badge. There are some minor wear marks attributable to age and use which hopefully I have illustrated in the photos . The hinge is tight, the lid opens easily and fits snugly. The small size makes it perfect for the pocket.
