First patented by Edward Wilson, a Devon-based engineer in 1902, the Halden Calculex is more of a pocket device rather than a pocket watch style rule, due to the absence of a crown. 

This, I believe is a Type 2 and comes with the original branded aluminum hard case and 95+ page instruction booklet - all in superb condition.
