This is a superb pair of antique Victorian 18 carat gold French earrings. The earrings are made of 18 carat gold which has been tested and guaranteed. They are hallmarked with the French 18 carat gold Eagle Head hallmark.

The earrings are in the French dormeuse or sleepers style with front closures. The earrings are set with two Diamond paste stones each. The small Diamond paste stones have a diameter of about 2 mm each. The large Diamond paste stones have a slightly square cut which is a typical cut for Diamond paste stones for that time. They measure about 7 mm by 7 mm each. The Diamond paste stones are beautifully faceted and very sparkly especially when catching the light. They are held by silver claws. Silver was often used for the claws holding Diamond paste stones as it added to their sparkle. The rest of the earrings are made of 18 carat gold. The earrings are about 15 mm high.

These superb antique Victorian 18 carat gold earrings are in very good condition. 18 carat gold earrings with large Diamond paste stones are becoming so hard to find these days especially in such good condition. Please note that when the ear wires are hooked into the hole meant for the closure, they feel a bit loose. This will have to be checked and sorted by a jeweler. The earrings can, however still be worn as the clasps can be hooked inside the earrings themselves. The earrings will be sent in a gift box. Thank you for your visit.
