1:6 Scale Complete Titanic/Olympic Clock

On offer is a faithful reproduction of the clock featuring the complete architecture surround and ornamental details of the original clock as seen in archival builders photographs of the White Star Olympic and Titanic’s Grand Staircase landing. This clock has been meticulously sculpted then cast in museum quality heavy resin by Alan St. George. The hand applied finish in Vintage Straw Oak.  The clock's meaning is a statement about competence, success, and achievement. The clock represents Honour and Glory crowning Tim.  It is one of a series of slave clocks on the ship. Honour is exalted by the palm-bearing Glory; the palm leaf was used by the ancient Romans to represent triumph and victory., in this case over industrial sea vessels, the size of which were rapidly outpacing outdated safety standards set in the 1894 set by the British Board of Trade. This number was set by tonnage. The largest vessel in 1894 was 13,000 tons. The Titanic was 46,429 tons gross tons. Displacement 52,000+. She carried the proper number of Lifeboats, 16 and even 4 collapsibles. But her designer, Thomas Andrews argued for 40 lifeboats - the reason became unfortunately painfully obvious late in April, 1912.

The actual clock mechanism in this replica is an acrylic encased 2” wide quality quartz movement boasting roman numerals like the original and that seen in the James Cameron's 1997 blockbuster film. This mechanism can be removed in order to set the time and change the battery. The Reverse of the casting is green felt-backed and is pre-drilled for hanging. Please view the photographs - they enlarge well. The original (not reproduction) related Titanic vintage toothpaste jar and Mauretania Swag are not included.

The original clocks were carved by Charles Wilson who painted "Entering the New World" for Titanic's First Class Smoking Room. The ornamental surrounds of floral and harvest sprays in the style of Grinling Gibbons makes this clock highly recognizable and a timeless treasure.  Among the most recognizable clock in the world.
An excellent addition to any White Star Line or Titanic collection.

This high quality clock produced in 1:6 scale and with the surrounding architecture is 17” tall, 10.5” wide, and 1.5” thick. It weighs approximately 5 pounds,
