19th C. Date mark 1887 English Sterling Silver Chocolate Pot w/ Side Handle

We are offering a gorgeous 19th Century Sterling Silver Chocolate pot
made by London silversmith John Henry Rawlings, with hallmarks
dating this piece to 1887 on the bottom and the inside of the lid.
J.H. Rawlings first registered his trademark in 1887, so this is one of
his earliest pieces. This piece has a beautiful all-over
chased and repoussé leaf design, with a gadrooned lid and base.
It sits on 3 very interesting feet. The handle is the original faceted ebony handle.

The introduction of tea, coffee, and chocolate into the western
European diet during the mid-17th century revolutionized drinking habits.

This piece is great original condition, and has a few very small spots of ink
and silver polish residue in some crevices,
could be easily removed and could use a polish.
