Owned the Dead Shot mine in Cripple Creek, containing 9.40 acres, and the Plomis Chief, containing 4 acres.  Main office was in Colorado Springs, Colorado.  William Shemwell was president.  He was a blacksmith from Colorado Springs had no idea how to mine for gold.  While working his way up Raven Hill in Cripple Creek, he started digging and found gold.  His initial strike, named the Elkton mine, would be the second riches in the history of Cripple Creek mining.
