Art Deco American Greist/Nuart Creations Table Lamp
For your consideration is an Art Deco American
Greist/Nuart Creations table lamp circa 1930’s featuring a figurine of a lady
in a cream pearlescent colour seated on a chair on a black coloured
base. This lamp was known in America in the 1930’s as the “Jean Harlow” lamp.
The lamp comes complete with an original amber coloured crackle glass shade.
Dimensions:
Total Lamp Height: 18cm
Base Length: 22.5cm
Base Depth: 14.5cm
Condition:
The original cream pearlescent paint finish on the figurine had deteriorated
beyond viable restoration. Consequently, the colour was reproduced by an
automobile paint restorer and resprayed. Structurally the lamp is in
excellent condition with no breaks or repairs. The glass shade has no
chips. The lamp also has its original light bulb socket and retains its
American power plug. I will provide an Australian
power plug adaptor with this lamp. The original 1930’s on/off rotary switch was
found to be defective and has been replaced with an era appropriate American
rotary switch. The lamp has been rewired with period appropriate gold braided
cloth covered wire and the underside of the lamp base
has been covered with black felt to prevent scratching of furniture. Please
check the photos as these form part of the description.
About Greist/Nuart Creations:
Arthur Von Frankenberg of Frankart lamps fame sold
his company interest in January 1934 to the Greist Manufacturing Company, New
Haven, Connecticut. Along with new lamp designs by its own in-house designers,
Greist continued to manufacture several of the Frankart lamps originally designed
by Von Frankenberg. In 1939 Greist sold its lamp division to Nuart Creations.
Founded and based in New York City from the 1920’s, Nuart
Creations produced many different metalware
household decorative functional items including lamps, bookends, ashtrays,
nymph/fairy figurines, candle holders, cigarette boxes, clocks and metal
aquarium stands. Nuart Creations distributed their wares through the Gift
House, Inc. store located at 1107 Broadway, New York City. The domestic
popularity of these artistic pieces soon spread to international collectors.

Sometime ago I downsized to a home unit and, due to reduced space,
I am now selling some of my collection of Art Deco lamps that I have collected
over the years. Your purchase will be securely
packed to ensure safety in transit via Australia Post and a tracking number

Please note that eBay’s postage calculator for
