Here is a EGERSUND FAYANCEFABRIK SCANDINAVIAN SHALLOW BOWL / DISH IN THE YELLOW ONION OR "CONGO" PATTERN BY KARE BLOKK JOHANSO.

The company was opened by Johan Feyer, who studied pottery in Newcastle upon Tyne, in the UK.n 1847 and closed in 1979 in Egersund, Norway.  This pattern is from the 1960s and has a truly retro style.

This item has a white ground and a striking sunshine yellow wide band to the rim.  There are stylized flowers and yellow onions, also diamond shapes accented in blue.  Each part of the pattern is completed with black outlines alternately forming a band just below the border band.  The middle of the bowl is plain.  The bowl is hand stamped and hand painted.

To the base you will see the Egersund backstamp, which I believe dates to the 1960s.

The dish measures approximately 1 3/4"" high and has a diameter of approximately 8".

This item is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks or restoration.

The dish is a good size for using as a breakfast, soup, pasta or dessert dish. It is also striking as a decorative piece.
