Here is a lovely trio set of porcelain teacup and saucer and luncheon plate, made by Gareis, Kühnl & Co. of Germany. The porcelain color is an off white, maybe ivory or cream colored, with a red band, and a wider creamy yellow band with gold lines and gold leaf vines. There is a spiral sunburst design of gold on the center plate and a gold 8 pointed star in the center of the cup. The cup has a wide mouth and a small elegant foot. More than once, when I picked up the cup, I was surprised at how light it is and how fine and thin the porcelain is, the cup by itself weighs just over 3 ounces!

This backstamp with G K C in green under the glaze was used from 1900-1945 according to porcelainmarksandmore.com, so this set is around 80 to 124 years old. It is in excellent vintage to antique condition, with no chips, cracks or crazing. There is some wear to the gold, most notably on the star on the inside of the cup, on the handle, and a little bit on the spiral sunburst on the plate, so look at the pictures for that. I see very few marks on the glaze of the plates when looking at an angle to the light.

The footed teacup holds 1/2 cup easily and 3/4 cup to the top, stands 2 & 3/8 inches tall and is 3 & 7/8 inches in diameter. The saucer is 5 & 5/8 inches in diameter and the plate is about 7 & 1/2 inches across, a perfect size for a sandwich, salad or some other treat to go with your tea or coffee! The cup weighs a bit over 3 ounces and the whole set weighs about 1 pound 1 ounce.

Please zoom in on the pictures for a closer look and see the 360 degree video.
