'Ron van Dongen: A. angustatum' (One Picture Book #37)
SIGNED Limited Edition Book w/ Original Color Photograph
ONE PICTURE BOOKS (Series One) was conceived in 1998 as a way to make original artwork affordable. The series consists of uniformly designed, modestly-sized hardcover books, comprising 16 pages that serve as a “canvas” for the artist to display one cohesive body of work.
Each title was limited to 500 numbered copies and included an original tipped-in photograph, signed on the verso by the artist.
The One Picture Book series ended in 2016 with its 100th title and has since moved to a new upgraded One Picture Book Two series.
Ron van Dongen is considered the most recognized and widely-collected photographer of botanical studies working today.
Born in Judibana, Venezuela in 1961, van Dongen was raised in Warmond, The Netherlands. He studied photography at the Academy of Art College in San Francisco and currently resides in Portland, Oregon. Ron van Dongen's seductive black and white florals unearth floral secrets and symbols of our alternately nurturing and perilous relationship with nature. In simple arrangements and with masterful printing techniques, van Dongen conjures visual sensations that can reflect the struggles and confusions of everyday life in memorializing the beautiful, the simple, the flower.
