This 1982 Friedlander book is a selection of work he made while on commission for the Akron Art Institute in 1979. During this time, Friedlander photographed the towns and workers in and around the Ohio River Valley. Friedlander's sharp eye, formal brilliance and wit combine to form insight into the contemporary social and industrial landscape. "Not since the Great Depression has a series of images shown the factory world with the clarity that this book does."--Leslie Katz in the afterword.

Very good. Cloth show light edgewear which is more pronounced along the top edge. Soiling to the top of the spine.  Internally, spectacular, clean and crisp photographs. Slight tanning to page edges. Unmarked.

Printed in 300 line duotone offset lithography by the Meriden Gravure Company from negatives by Richard M.A. Benson. A scarce Friedlander title. A great book. Gorgeous.  SIGNED.
