A collection of images from the earliest part of Kertesz's career taken between 1912 and 1925 and all taken in his homeland. Includes his youth and early manhood in Hungary, Communist demonstrations in Budapest in 1918, WWI photos, the Jews and ghetto life in Budapest.

The boards are clean and bright with minimal wear. Foxing to the fore edges. Prior owner initials stamped on the bottom fore edge. The dust jacket is complete with light wear. Corners rubbed. Price clipped. Some light scratches to both covers and scuff marks to the back cover. Internally, gift inscription to first free endpaper. Scattered light foxing to the half title page, title page, two pages of the introduction, and to three pages where there is an image. Otherwise the remaining images are clean, crisp and bright. Tight binding. Tanning to page edges.
