Muestra un amigable Hatillano en típica indumentaria de Máscara & a caballo, saludando al público, especial deleite para los niños, aunque pueden convertirse en el "terror de maldades" para adultos conocidos, que incluyen todas las payaserías imaginables, desde brincarles encima & cosquillear bruscamente por todos lados, hasta bañar en crema de afeitar...o !hasta con cerveza! (No en balde a veces, desgraciadamente, !siempre hay par de payasos que terminan a los puños! ) A la izquierda de la máscara aparece el escudo de Hatillo del Corazón. Rodea  la composición las siguientes palabras: Abajo: "CIUDAD DE LAS MASCARAS, CAPITAL LECHERA DE PUERTO RICO"; Arriba: "FUNDACION DE HATILLO DEL CORAZON POR DON AGUSTIN RUIZ" Separa ambas partes las fechas de fundación & actual, "1823 - 2008." Es mi primera medalla con diseño al fondo, en este caso, la bandera de Puerto Rico.

Shows the legendary Mascarade guy, portrayed in a very traditional fashion, in full costume and on horseback, waving at crowds assembled for the traditional Mascarade parade, unique in Puerto Rico, very frequented and observed, a tradition dating back to the mid nineteenth century, where several thousand Spanish subjects from the Canary Islands, came to settle on the northwest coast of Puerto Rico, settling heavily in Hatillo & its vicinity. Left of the image the town's coat of arms is depicted, with lot of attention to detail, the dates 1823 -2008 show the 185 years of Hatillo's history, and bands of words up & down talk about the towns foundation by Mr. Agustín Ruiz, and the way Hatillo is known, as both the town of the mascarade, and Puerto Rico's cow milk capital, due to the fact 35% of the dairy products come from this town, and Hatillo's wealthy cow farmers own well over half of the island's total milk production, among cow farms that extend over Hatillo neighboring towns.

REVERSO / REVERSE :

Muestra magistralmente la hermosa iglesia de culto católico Parroquia Nuestra Señora del Carmen, la cual data de la época española, excepto la torre de campanario, adición de 1930 al 32. Dato curioso, es que una vez hecha, primeramente se le colocó el reloj original de una de las torres de la alcaldía de San Juan, es por eso que hasta el sol de hoy, dicha alcaldía tiene 2 torres, pero reloj sólo en una. Dichos relojes fueron importados gracias a un suizo radicado en San Juan. El de Hatillo estuvo funcionando hasta la decada de los 80's, cuando fue desgraciadamente substituido por el actual. A la izquierda de la torre aparece un cuarteto de "Peache", el cual lee: "Si Dios un día cegara toda fuente de luz, el universo se alumbraría con esos ojos que tienes tú". Alrededor de la composición aparecen los nombres de algunos Hatillanos ilustres, a saber: Manuel Alcaide, Dr. Curbelo, Dr. Susoni, Fernando Ledesma, Hnos Millán, José P.H. Hernández (Peache), Luis Lacomba, Lorenzo Coballes, Pedro Vargas, Pipe Arana, J.Monrouzeau, Pablo Aguilar, Oscar Colón, & la Senadora González.

Shows the main Catholic church, of Nuestra Señora del Carmel parish, in front of the Town Square, a section of José P.H. Hernández's most famous madrigal poem, the town's 185th anniversary, and a small list of the Hatillo's most famous citizens.      

Wonderful crown sized coin, 40mm , of over an ounce of weight ( 30 grams). Chromed Nickel alloy, Low relief details of gem proof finish quality. Design and produced for THE PUERTO RICO MINT ( Mint mark: " PRM "). Included is a numbered certificate of authenticity, signed by the coin's artist.
