High Quality, Made for Professional Operators. This listing is for a new 7/16" x 150' winch cable. IPS Fiber core wire rope. Alloy SELF LOCKING swivel hook with latch kit on one end (21,400 lb. breaking strength). This cable features a high quality SELF LOCKING swivel hook ideal for most tow trucks (rollbacks and wreckers) that were shipped from the factory with 7/16" cable and for other winches where the manufacturer recommends 7/16" cable. The SELF LOCKING swivel hook is requested and worth the extra cost to towers who experience problems breaking the latch on standard swivel hooks (see our other eBay auctions for cables with standard swivel hooks, non-swivel hooks, steel core cable and additional cable sizes).

Always consult the manufacturer's recommendations when replacing winch cable. Most tow trucks are shipped from the factory with IPS (Improved Plow Steel) Fiber Core cable. Fiber Core is more flexible and is generally considered to last longer because the fiber core holds lubricant that is squeezed out when the cable is placed under load.

Some tow trucks are shipped from the factory with Steel core cable. Steel core cable can be either IPS IWRC (Improved Plow Steel Independent Wire Rope Center), EIPS IWRC (Extra Improved Plow Steel IWRC), or EEIPS IWRC (Extra Extra Improved Plow Steel IWRC). Steel core cable is more crush resistant than fiber core but not as flexible. EEIPS is the strongest followed by EIPS and then IPS. The Holmes 1701 is an example of a tow truck where the manufacturer specifies a 5/8" EEIPS cable.
