Upgrade your old non computer controlled distributor with this new HEI conversion distributor. HEI technology provides greater spark with improved starting and throttle response!
This brand new unit fits 396, 402, 427, and 454 big block Chevys. Does not work with tall deck engines. Excellent replacement for non-computer controlled stock HEIs or conversions such as upgrading from an early points type distributor. Installation is simple with the 2 wire setup. Just hook up a full 12V switched ignition wire and your electronic tach wire (optional) and you are ready to go. Features a CNC machined cast aluminum housing with new shaft assembly and bushings. Hardened steel distributor gear. Built-in is a high output 7,000 RPM 4-pin ignition module plus a 65,000 volt ignition coil. Adjustable mechincal advance weights and springs along with an adjustable vacuum advance canister allows the option of fine tuning the timing curve if desired. This one comes with quality brass terminal red cap and "Super" coil cover that also serves as a plug wire retainer.
Check clearances on your particular application - the HEI large cap is about 5.5" across. When replacing your stock points distributor these may not line up with the same rotor location, you may have a new position for the #1 plug wire on the cap and have to adjust the other wires accordingly. Replace older mechanical type voltage regulators to solid state (transistorized) regulators for best performance and to prevent ignition module failure.
