Numata Kashu (Japan, 1838-1901) was a specialist painter of birds and nature paintings from Nagoya. In 1888 he was commissioned to decorate the Imperial Palace. He published a three volume portfolio set of bird and flower genre woodblock prints in the 1880s. His lifelike images of birds and flowers proved so popular that dealers sold them individually, destroying most of the complete sets. The fine art reproductions in this series are based on a 1938 facsimile reproduction of the original volumes, which featured 150 color illustrations. Each print measuresd approximately 10.25 x 7.5 inches (25 x 18.0 cm).

**the giclee process produces a superior quality, fine art reproduction from a high-resolution digital file of an image. The file is then printed with a high-resolution photo generation printer on a fine art paper. Most artists and working photographers today use the giclee process to produce reproductions of their original artwork and photographs.
As with any original art or fine art reproduction, it is recommended that prints are framed and displayed under glass to prevent color fade or shift over the years.
