The Assassination of Shaka by Mhlangane Dingane and Mbopa on 22 September 1828 at Dukuza by which act the Zulu nation first lost its empire. 43 woodcuts by Cecil Skotnes. Text by Stephen Gray. McGraw-Hill Johannesburg, 1974. Signed on the title page by Skotnes and Gray. In good plus/near very good condition. The jacket shows moderate wear, a few small tears, and a little staining, preserved in a Brodart jacket, which is taped down at front and back. Moderate external wear, bottom corner of front cover bumped. There are some small blemishes to inside covers/endpapers; the pages are very clean, but there is a bottom corner crease affecting pages throughout, significant early on, although almost imperceptible after about half-way through. The spine is a bit slanted; the binding is firm.
