Founded in 1973, the Christian Bernard group is the company responsible today for the watches and jewelry you see from of such brands as Amore & Baci, Cacharel, Féraud Guy, Laroche, Morgan and Replay. The company is a stronghold on the fashion scene collaborating with fashion houses as well as producing their own brands. This pendant watch is one of the company's premier pieces, which debuted it's first collection in 1976. You can see the influence from mod designers and avant garde elements, bold and beautiful while still being wearable. The brand is located in France and it is a fusion of fine Swiss watchmaking skill and French fashion. This watch, from the early lineup, is a rare manual wind from this company. Built with a solid movement and daring form, we can't think of a better way to celebrate French style. A wonderful piece in excellent condition.
Movement: 17 jewel FE Movement 68 is a mechanical wind movement. It has been newly serviced by a master watchmaker. It runs and keeps time in good order.
Dial condition and detail: Brushed antique white satin dial in original condition has a four quadrant tapestry effect with its mini-pinstripe pattern in different directions. Signed on the Dial "Christian Bernard"
Case condition and detail: Fun and funky case is integrated into a round "stained glass" pendant. The stained glass effect is made from colored Plexiglas, and the effect is a translucent glow of red and silver against the tapestry pattern for quadrant dial. his case is an early one, and not signed (later designs are), but this is typical of the brand at the time. In Very good vintage condition.
Crystal/Glass condition: Plastic crystal in excellent condition.
Chain condition and detail:Original integrated chain in base metal. Long enough to slip over the head, but also has a clasp at the back.
Size of watch: The central watch measures about 18mm in diameter. The ring around measures about 50mm . A size that is bold and substantial.
Length of chain: 23" long, the pendant piece drops 2" from the chain ends.
General comments: Funky and Bold. A standout in a crowd. Ready to wear.
