| Principles of Operation
|
Helipot series A is a high resolution, multi-turn precision potentiometer...1-13/16 inches in diameter... for bushing mounting. The unit consists of a resistance element having terminal connections at each end and a sliding contact which traverses the length of the element. Slider position and voltage are a function of shaft rotation. Load resistance should be high enough to allow only negligible current flow through the sliding contact.
Operation is generally as a voltage divider, or electromechanical transducer, translating mechanical motion into an electrical signal.
Rehostat operation may be obtained by connecting the power source to one end of the resistance element and the slider contact to load.
