This great pair of clickers are marked and made by T. Cohn, Inc, Made in the USA.  The graphics are clean and bright and have the very rare addition of red chenille pipe cleaners to form arms and legs for these two clowns.

The clickers themselves measure 2 1/2 inches in length.  Very clean and a great set to add to your collection!

A number of American companies created tin noisemakers, such as Kirchhof, T.Cohn, Chein, Bugle Toy and US Metal Toy MFG. One of the most recognizable manufacturer’s is Kirchhof, a company that created toys in Newark, New Jersey.

Noise makers came in many shapes and sizes, from Clickers, or Crickets, Horns, Tambourines, Rattlers, Frying pan types, Whistles, Bell types, Ratchet types, and Canister types. Kirchhof manufactured tin noisemakers in the early part of the 1900’s. Early noisemakers were made from tin and came complete with sculpted wood handles, or mouthpieces. Later versions of these noisemakers would be made with plastic handles or mouthpieces.

The tin noisemakers put forth by American companies featured various, brightly-colored themes. Fun designs, jesters, and clowns were among the graphics. But, the most recognizable and popular tin noisemakers feature Halloween designs, such as pumpkins and black cats.

In order to tell if a tin noisemaker is an authentic antique that was produced by an American manufacturer, look for a marking that clearly states that it was made in the USA and has a makers mark, like Kirchhof of Newark, New Jersey.
