South American Doll, Mother & Child Cloth Embroidered Needle sculpted 18"
  • This pair, mother and child, are an outstanding piece of cloth sculpture.
  • It is completely hand-made of authentic fabrics and has all embroidered features, as well as needle sculpting.
  • It represents an indigenous Indian mother and child, from South or Central America...possibly Peru, Guatamala, Columbia, Panama or Equador.
  • The baby is adorable. He can be carried on her back or cradled in her arms. The baby's mouth is actually a snap, and he attaches to his mothers' breast. His foot had a small tear that has been repaired.
  • The mother is dressed in three skirts, blouse, jacket, shawl and panama hat. She wears a small crucifix.  She has many anatomically correct details.
  • Together they come with their own custom stand -- made of wood and wire.
  • This doll was purchased at an art fair near Chicago in the early 70's. The artist had a wide variety of character dolls from literature and ethnic dolls from around the world.
