A HISTORY AND BIBLIOGRAPHY OF THE ROYCROFT PRINTING SHOP

PAUL MCKENNA. North Tonawanda, New York: Tona Graphics, 1996. Second Edition

Dust jacket over hard cover. 170+ pages. Black and white illustrations. Notes. Chronological Bibliography and Collateral Material List. Selected References. Index. Dimensions: height of 8.75 inches by width of 5.75 inches.

Condition: Very Good. Very slight edge wear to the dust jacket and teeny tiny bumps to tips of right-hand corners of the cover.  Clean inside and out. No damaged pages, no internal marks or writing.

This is the essential text for any scholar or collector interested in the Roycroft Press in particular and American Arts and Crafts style fine printing and book production in general. It includes a history of the Press as well as a list and detailed description of each book issued arranged by year. When describing Roycroft books, booksellers refer to a volume’s number in McKenna.

The Roycroft Press’s founder Elbert Hubbard (1856-1915) was a marketing genius who initially made a fortune working for the Larkin Soap Company of Buffalo. He later established the Roycroft Community and Shops in East Aurora, New York. The shops included the Roycroft Press which emulated the Kelmscott Press established by William Morris. Hubbard was a prolific writer, publisher, and lecturer with a national following. He and his wife died aboard the Lusitania.

International shipping information:

The Shipping Calculator (below) will provide an accurate price for shipping a single item but will be too high for international multiple-book shipments.
It also cannot always tell which items will fit into a flat-rate envelope or box.

I will be happy to quote costs for shipping multiple items to destinations outside the US before you bid on them - just use the 'Ask Seller a Question' button.

The shipping discount offer does not apply to international shipments.

We wil NOT falsify Customs documents by marking items as gifts or by stating a false value so please do not ask us to do so.

Please check with your country's customs office to determine what these additional costs will be prior to bidding or buying.
